The  (2015) change to Part M of the building regulations and its provision under the Equality act (Formerly known as the Disability Discrimination Act or DDA); apply to any Housing Association properties or any private developments containing an element of Social Housing. The update has guidance requiring that communal entrances and entrances to any individual wheelchair or mobility users residence need to provide a covered area above the entrance door level landing. Specifically, the regulations require a minimum cover with a depth and width of 1200mm.

Periodic cleaning is all that is required for these low maintenance door canopies.

The Leeds Aluminium Canopy System is exclusive to Canopy Products Limited and is available in a range of x4 standard sizes. Please ask us for drawings if required for each size

The Leeds canopies come complete with support brackets. Each support bracket must be fixed at MAX 400mm intervals/centres - see below

2.5m width canopies comes supplied with 6 no Support Brackets- CA/90/DDA1200x6

 The canopy system is normally installed with 100mm long M10 anchor bolts, self-tapping screws and rubber washers - NOT included you will need to source these separately.

5. Fire rating is a critical factor today. Solid Aluminium sheet is classified as non combustible. Powdercoated Alumninium, Interpon D1000 series and D2000 series have been tested to BS476, parts 6 & 7 and have been deemed to have met the criteria for class 0 building regulations.

6. The design allows for recessed spot or surface-mounted lights to be fitted with easy access for wiring within the canopy.

7. The wind and snow loads have been calculated for a specific site located in Bath. The wind load on the canopy is taken as the maximum load on the walls as the canopy is located in the lower half of the wall. The aluminium brackets have been checked to carry the loads. The brickwork to which the canopy is fixed has been assumed to be minimum 20kN/m2 brick in classification (iii) mortar. The embedment of the fixing bolts to be 80mm. Brackets should be placed at maximum 400mm centres. Calculation available on request quoting SC23821. Suitability for the canopy to your specific application and location should be obtained. The building structural engineer should confirm the adequacy of the external wall to carry the loads. Specific calculations can be obtained through Canopy Products Limited to cover individual requirements and building location.

    Aluminium canopies can be supplied in either Mill finish (Non-painted) or from our range of 26 Standard polyester powder coated colours from the BBA approved Raincote range. See Ral colours download. Ral 7016m (Anthracite Grey) is the most popular colour. Other colours are available upon request, but surcharges may apply. Smooth finish is standard with some textured finishes * also available as standard. Please ensure you add to notes if a textured finish is required. All colours are 30% Gloss unless otherwise stated.
